Oregan Networks to Launch High-Definition OTT Set-Top box, Based on its Onyx Media Browser
Oregan Networks, a London-based provider of media browser solutions for CE and IPTV devices, has announced the imminent launch of an HD OTT set-top box, based on its Onyx media browser. According to the company, the new box, which is dubbed the DPS 1000 and which is being manufactured by Korean consumer electronics brand, Digital Streams, will be available in retail in the UK and will provide access to a range of Internet-delivered video and music services, as well as to social networking sites, via a "slick and animated" user interface. The box will be powered by a dual-core set-top box chipset from Broadcom, the company says.

ADB Teams with Top Up TV to Offer Sky Sports 1 and 2, ESPN on its i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 Set-Top
--Box also Supports BBC iPlayer
Geneva-based set-top box/digital TV technology provider, Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), on Monday announced a deal with Top Up TV, a company that operates a pay-TV service that supplements the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial service, Freeview. According to the company, the deal will allow users of its i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 set-top box (note: i-CAN is a retail brand of ADB) to access Premier League soccer and other sports coverage through Sky Sports 1 and 2 and ESPN.
ADB to Power MHP-Based HD Interactive TV for Indonesian Pay-TV Operator, First Media
Geneva-based set-top box/digital TV technology provider, Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), said Tuesday that Indonesian pay-TV operator, First Media, will use its products and solutions to deploy what it bills as Indonesia's first HD pay-TV service. The deal is ADB's first in the Indonesian market. According to the company, its technologies will enable First Media customers to access a range of advanced services, including interactive TV and VOD, in addition to HDTV.

Epix Taps ChoiceStream for EpixHD.com Movie Recommendations
Epix, a subscription-based multiplatform (linear, VOD, online) premium programming service which is a joint venture between Viacom, its Paramount Pictures arm, MGM and Lionsgate, said last week that it has tapped ChoiceStream to provide movie recommendations to users of its EpixHD.com service (note: the latter is available to authenticated customers of Cox, Mediacom, Charter and Verizon FiOS TV).

UK satellite-TV provider, BSkyB, on Wednesday unveiled a new Internet-based VOD service, called Sky Anytime+, that will be accessible in the living room via the Ethernet connection in the company's existing Sky+ HD set-top boxes--though the new service's content will initially only be available in SD. In order to access the service, which will be enabled by an over-the-air software download to Sky's HD set-tops later this year, Sky customers will also have to have a broadband account with the company--though the company says that it hopes to eventually make the service accessible via third-party ISP's.
