Comcast Launches Multiroom DVR Service, "AnyRoom DVR"

Comcast announced last week that it has launched a multiroom DVR service--branded as AnyRoom DVR--in Oregon and southwest Washington. It subsequently came to light that the MSO has also launched the service, which is powered by technologies from Entropic and Broadcom, in around 20 or so of its other Motorola markets, including Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN; Augusta, GA; Little Rock, AR; Mobile, AL; western Massachusetts; southern Florida; and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Los Angeles-based start-up, Clicker Media (note: the company, which says that it aims to become "the complete programming guide to Internet television," claims to catalog all broadcast programming available online, together with TV-quality Web originals, movies and music videos, and to deliver them "in one seamless, organized experience that includes more than 350,000 episodes, from over 5,000 shows, from over 1,000 networks, in over 1,000 categories"; it is currently inviting sign-ups from beta users), announced last week that Blake Krikorian has joined its board and has also invested an undisclosed amount in the company.

Comcast Begins Rolling Out A28 i-Guide, New Interactive TV Applications

--Delays Plans to Implement "Start Over" Service

Comcast has begun rolling out the A28 i-Guide--an EPG that was developed by GuideWorks, its joint venture with Rovi (formerly Macrovision)--on Motorola set-top boxes, but has delayed plans to launch a "start over" service, according to a report Friday by Todd Spangler of the US cable industry trade publication, Multichannel News.

BSkyB Unveils New HD EPG

--Rebrands Sky Anytime on PC as "Sky Player"

UK satellite TV provider, BSkyB, has announced plans to launch what
it describes as a "new EPG for the HD era."
The HD Sky Guide, which
builds on the company's existing Sky Guide EPG, is scheduled to
launch on all Sky HD boxes this fall. According to BSkyB, the new
guide is based on extensive customer research and takes advantage of
the latest set-top box technology to create a foundation for future on-
demand enhancements; it sports a new look-and-feel and offers new
features designed to make it easier for customers to search, discover
and navigate a constantly expanding line-up of content, the company
