--App Leverages Company's Recently Launched Rovi Media Cloud
Rovi on Tuesday unveiled Rovi What's On TV, a free TV listings app for the Apple iPad. The app, which features what Rovi calls a "graphic, rich magazine-style layout," lets users browse and search local TV listings for 24 hours ahead.
BBC Worldwide-owned TV listings magazine, Radio Times, has been tapped by EPG specialist, Inview Interactive, to provide a branded EPG for the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial platform, Freeview, replacing Inview's existing Teletext Extra guide. The EPG, branded as Radio Times Extra and slated to be available on 37 Freeview set-top models from 21 different manufacturers (which collectively serve around 3.8 million Freeview households), offers 14 days of programming listings and synopses and some editorial content, including daily programming picks.

--Company Claims to Offer Only Embedded Database Designed from Scratch for STB Program Guides
McObject, a company best known for its eXtremeDB Fusion embedded database system, contacted [itvt] Monday to let us know that German consumer electronics manufacturer, Loewe Opta, has launched new digital TV models that incorporate EPG software based on eXtremeDB Fusion (note: the eXtremDB Fusion database system is also used in DirecTV's EPG's).
