-- Concurrent, FourthWall Media Support Interactive TV Rollout
Charter Communications says it has deployed digital set-tops from Cisco capable of delivering interactive TV advertising and programming in about 1 million homes.
The MSO, which counts about 5 million subscribers, worked with technology vendors Concurrent and FourthWall Media to prepare its set-tops to receive ads that rely on the industry's EBIF platform. FourthWall supplied its EBIF platform and user agent, while Concurrent is supplying product management and backend reporting technology.
--Fox to Offer Primetime Shows on Cox's MyPrimetime VOD Platform
Disney-ABC Domestic Television said Monday that its subscription VOD (SVOD) service, Disney Family Movies, has partnered with Comcast, Charter, Cox, AT&T U-verse, Suddenlink, Verizon FiOS TV and various operators that are affiliates of VOD content distributor, Avail-TVN, to offer a free preview from Thursday, September 2nd through Monday, September 6th.
The free preview, which will be hosted by Phylicia Rashad, will offer a range of classic and contemporary Disney movies, including "Pocahontas," "Muppet Treasure Island," "A Bug's Life," and "Monster Truck Mater" (note: the latter two titles are Disney-Pixar productions), Disney said.

Canoe Ventures, the company tasked with implementing the US cable industry's plans for interactive and addressable advertising (note: its backers are Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Charter, Cablevision and Bright House), said Monday that it has signed separate agreements with Comcast Networks, Discovery Communications, NBC Universal and Rainbow Media that will see those companies launching its national interactive TV advertising solutions across their individual programming networks.
itaas--an Atlanta-based company which provides a range of software development, integration and testing services for interactive TV (including ETV/EBIF, tru2way and IPTV solutions), and which earlier this week (see the article published on itvt.com, May 11th) announced that it had ported the EBIF user agent of Comcast-subsidiary, TVWorks, to Cisco set-top boxes--today (Wednesday) announced that it has signed an agreement with Charter Communications that includes licensing, installation and support for the TVWorks ETV platform. According to the company, the agreement includes the EBIF user agent, the Pathway Communications Suite and the OCAP Services Library (OSL) components of the interactive platform.

Cable MSO, Charter Communications, has launched an "on-demand reminder service" that sends customers text or email reminders, alerting them to new movie releases, events and premieres available on its VOD platform. Customers can register to receive the reminders, which are based on both title and category searches, at http://www.charter.net/reminders.
--VOD Round-Up: HDNet on FiOS TV, Oasis TV on Cox and Charter, Ski Channel on RCN
Comcast announced Monday that it will today (Tuesday) launch an HD VOD collection showcasing music videos, biographical footage and live performances from Shakira, thanks to an exclusive partnership with the Colombian singer (note: the MSO also recently launched a similar exclusive HD VOD collection featuring singer, Taylor Swift--see the article published on itvt.com, December 3rd).
