John P. Roberts,
John P. Roberts most recently served as Senior Vice President, Digital Media and Interactive Entertainment, at GSN, the Network for Games. While at GSN, Roberts was responsible for developing the interactive strategy that helped grow distribution over 100% - from 31 to 65 million homes and launched the cable industry's first one-screen interactive play-along in partnership with Oceanic Time Warner Cable.
Roberts also oversaw the creation, development and launch of the US's first 'participation TV' show, PlayMania. He served as Executive Producer for over 200 episodes.
Prior to joining Game Show Network in 2001, Roberts was senior vice president of internet and iTV development at Vulcan Programming II, a division of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures. He was responsible for the development, supervision and implementation of interactive and convergence strategies for Vulcan's digital cable networks and other Internet-based Web programming content. Previously, Roberts served as vice president of new media for Fox Family, where he oversaw all aspects of Internet development for the networks' websites including foxkids.com and foxfamilychannel.com. Additionally, Roberts spearheaded the Fox Family convergence task force, which explored opportunities in interactive television. His background also includes business development at Universal Studios New Media Group, web site development at Fox Broadcasting Company, and was part of the team that launched the cable channel FX, as well as the first cable television website, fxnetworks.com.
A frequent speaker on Digital Media for conferences including, NCTA, CTAM, NATPE, the American Television Academy, Digital Hollywood and American Film Institute's Enhanced Television Workshop, Roberts was a winner of an iTV Leadership award and a 4-time Emmy Nominee for Interactive Television.
