Big 10 Network launched a BTN2Go app for Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod touch that lets subscribers of the regional sports network watch live college football and basketball games on the mobile devices. Viewers with iOS devices must subscribe to the network through Bright House Networks, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish Network, Time Warner Cable or other distributors that have authentication deals in place with the network. Synacor, which has developed Web portals and TV Everywhere sites for Charter Communications, Grande Communications and other distributors, said it hopes to raise $75 million from an initial public offering. The company wants to strike deals with more small and mid-sized pay TV distributors, and is also eyeing international expansion. Light Reading Cable has more.

CableLabs opened an office in San Francisco that the cable industry’s technology consortium says will help it build ties with technology, academic and investment communities in the area. Comcast senior VP of engineering John Carney is leading programs related to the new facility, and is working on behalf of CableLabs through the end of 2012. CableLabs senior VP of technology development Jean-François Mulé will lead the San Francisco office's technical staff, and CableLabs said it expects to add software engineers and technology specialists to this office. London-based Oregan Networks is supplying its media browsing software to Dixon Retail’s Logik for its 23-inch LCD TV. The Onyx media browser software provides offers access to weather and news widgets, social networking and online video services such as YouTube, Lovefilm and Blinkbox. More
