Paris-based video-sharing site operator, Dailymotion, has launched a video-powered social gaming feature called "DailyQuizz." According to the company, DailyQuizz games are designed to take advantage of its expertise at video curation and of its large catalog of video clips. It claims that the games offer viewers a "fun and engaging social experience around their favorite videos" that can easily be shared across popular social networking platforms. Advertisers, meanwhile, can use the games to increase their video-based engagement through custom skins and branded video quizzes," the company says.
Because DailyQuizz was launched on Valentine's day, its first four games (http://www.dailymotion.com/lovequizz) are love- and romance-themed--though Dailymotion says that it will roll out additional games "in dozens of themes" in the near future. The four games (complete with Dailymotion's descriptions of them) are Famous Couples ("Who's dating, who's split up, who's cheated and more"), The Greatest Love Songs ("Valentine's Day needs love songs. Do you know them all?"), The Most Romantic Movies ("Want to make your Valentine's Day feel like a movie? Be sure you really know the most romantic movies first"), and TV Romances ("A lot of the shows we watch are based on this question: will they end up together?").
"Social gaming is one of the fastest-growing activities online, with quizzes always proving popular for their ability to let people show off what they know while getting the thrill of competition," Joy Marcus, general manager of Dailymotion US, said in a prepared statement. "We're proud to have the inventory and skills needed to combine these elements into DailyQuizz, and we think our audience will be thrilled to watch, play and compete around the videos they love."
