--Allows Users to Manage Recordings, Navigate Content, and Interact via Social Media without Interrupting Viewing Experience
As expected (see the article published on itvt.com, January 11th), TiVo has now launched its TiVo Premiere App for iPad in the Apple App Store. Billed by the company as providing "a true two-screen TV experience that turns your iPad into command central for your TiVo Premiere box," the free companion app is designed to allow TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL users to discover new content, view guides, schedule and manage recordings, receive recommendations and access background information on programming, all without interrupting their viewing experience.
Key features of the app (a demo video of which is embedded above), according to the company, include:
- The ability to browse recorded shows and launch a video on the TiVo Premiere "with the flick of a finger."
- The ability to browse a full-screen program guide without interrupting video playback.
- The ability to share via Facebook and Twitter what one is currently watching and one's observations about a show.
- The ability to schedule one-time and Season Pass recordings "with a few flicks of the finger."
- The ability to manage Season Pass recordings and the To-Do list from the sofa or remotely.
- The ability to schedule, delete and reprioritize recordings.
- The ability to search for TV programs, movies, actors or directors across both broadcast and broadband (e.g. Netflix and Amazon Video On Demand), and to see integrated results.
- The ability to explore information on cast and crew, or to access programming recommendations without interrupting the viewing experience.
