- Netflix and Nu Image/Millennium Films have announced a long-term agreement, under which first-run theatrical films distributed by the Nu Image/Millennium Group will be licensed to Netflix for streaming over the Internet to its subscribers during the pay-TV window. The deal follows a similar deal with Epix that was announced last month (see the article published on itvt.com, August 11th).
- Panasonic has announced that Netflix instant streaming service is now available (with a Netflix subscription) on its 2010 HDTV's and Blu-ray Disc players that are equipped with its Viera Cast connected-TV platform. Other services that have launched on the platform this year include Skype, Twitter and Pandora.
- Networking and storage equipment provider, Netgear, and Zixi, a provider of HD OTT delivery platform technology, have announced the launch of a joint solution consisting of a Netgear NeoTV 550 Ultimate HD Media Player using the Zixi Video Operating System (ZVOS) to deliver live and on-demand HDTV over the Internet.
