Comcast Works with Clicker Media to Provide Listings of its Online TV Episode and Movie Offerings

In a posting on its corporate blog, Monday, online video content discovery specialist, Clicker Media, a company often associated with the emerging Internet TV/cord-cutting phenomenon (note: the company recently also launched a social TV service, called Clicker Social, which it bills as "allow[ing] people to discover, share, rate, discuss, and check-in to shows on Clicker and third-party partner sites"), announced a collaboration with Comcast that sees the cable MSO making listings for its Xfinity online TV episode and movie offerings available on Clicker's content discovery service. "Just search for the show you want to see via Clicker, and you'll now find a 'Comcast' checkbox in the left column next to our episode guide," Clicker's blog post states. "If you want to only search for Comcast, uncheck the other boxes. If you don't want Comcast in your listings at all, just uncheck that box. And if you permanently want to exclude Comcast from Clicker results [because most Xfinity content can only be accessed by Comcast customers, in accordance with the parameters of their subscription package], you can easily adjust your settings in your Profile."

According to Clicker, it has indexed over 900 movies ("and counting") from Comcast Xfinity, including over 200 from premium channels such as HBO and Cinemax. Thus, the company explains, "if you have Cinemax on your Comcast plan, you can watch it 'free' online (free means without paying anything extra beyond your Comcast subscription). For HBO subscribers," Clicker continues, "this means free streaming of movies like 'Public Enemies,' 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' and 'Monsters vs. Aliens'...none of which you can watch online anywhere else--free or paid!" Clicker says it has also indexed 160 TV shows that are available through Comcast Xfinity, and over 1,000 individual episodes--again including content from premium channels. "Of course," Clicker's blog posting concludes, "remember to add your favorites to your Clicker Playlist, rate shows and check-in (on Clicker.com or using Clicker's mobile apps) to share what you're watching and earn awards from Showtime (including 'Weeds,' 'Dexter' and 'The Big C'), HBO ('Entourage,' 'True Blood,' 'Hung') and more!"
