Cedar Point Communications, a company best known for its VoIP switching technologies, said Monday that it is holding the first North American public demonstration of its new SafariFusion Visual Communications Suite of applications at the CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone Colorado this week.
According to the company, which recently announced that it had joined itaas's istart application developer program, the applications are designed to optimize subscriber control over telecommunications functionalities. The company says that its Summer Conference demo will show how operators can leverage the SafariFusion Visual Communications suite, in conjunction with EBIF, tru2way, IPTV and other specifications and standards, to deliver advanced communications services to any device, including set-top boxes, connected TV's, PC's, iPads, and other tablets and mobile devices. The demo will show how a "holistic approach to communications management" can provide greater levels of communications service control to operators and their customers, the company says.
In other news from the CableLabs Summer Conference: The event's Innovation Showcase (in which companies pitch new technologies to attendees, who then vote for the one they deem most likely to succeed in the marketplace) took place Monday, and, according to CableLabs EVP and chief strategy officer, David Reed, a significant number of the technologies showcased at the event were intended to facilitate connectivity between the cable infrastructure, the IP network and IP devices (such as tablets) in the subscriber's home. Technologies featured in the showcase included an app from Alcatel-Lucent that lets users use their TV to monitor their car, and apps from Pace that respectively enable Skype service and social networking on TV.
