Miso Tapped to Provide Social TV Experience for WE tv's "Bridezillas," Rolls Out New Features

Miso, a recently launched social TV platform which is operated by Bazaar Labs and whose backers include Google Ventures (see the article published on itvt.com, June 2nd), said last week that it has been tapped by WE tv, a Rainbow Media-owned channel that targets a female demographic, to drive viewership of the seventh season of the latter's original series, "Bridezillas" (airs Sundays at 9:00PM Eastern/Pacific).

According to Miso, "Bridezillas" viewers can check-in to a dedicated show page (http://gomiso.com/media/bridezillas), where they can unlock such badges as the "Cake Smasher" or the "Veil Thrasher." Repeat visits give viewers the opportunity to become part of a "Bridezillas" Fan Club on Miso, where they can access video clips and exclusive photos, Miso says. "Working with Miso allows us to offer viewers innovative new ways to connect with each other around our shows, especially one as popular as 'Bridezillas,'" Kenetta Bailey, WE tv's SVP of marketing, said in a prepared statement. "The social media platform also delivers a targeted audience of fans of WE tv and our original series, regardless of where they are--at home, online or on a mobile device."

In other Miso news: The service has updated its iPhone/iPad app with a number of new features, including 1) the ability to add comments to and "like" any check-in from any user (users also now receive an email whenever someone comments on or "likes" one of their check-ins); 2) favorites ("favorite shows are now visible on your profile," Miso explains on its blog. "You can see # of check-ins and badges you've earned for each show. Touch the green corner and you'll get a 'quick check-in' button so you can check-in to your favorite shows with just one click"); 3) the ability to invite friends from one's address book ("click on 'invite' next to any friend's name and we will automatically send them a short email so they can sign up and join you on Miso," the service explains on its blog); and 4) the ability to add TV shows and movies that are "missing" from Miso's service ("to add a show," Miso explains, "1) search for the title and view all results to make sure it's not already in Miso; 2) select 'Missing the show you're looking for? Click here to add it, so others can check-in too!'"). A demo video of Miso's new features is embedded above.
