--Plans to Demo Automation of EBIF Application Testing at CableLabs Summer Conference
S3 Group, a company that provides a range of products and professional services to the digital TV industry, said Tuesday that it has licensed its StormTest DTV receiver test and analysis platform to Turkish satellite-TV operator, Digiturk. The company also said that it has licensed StormTest to clients (which it did not identify--though it has, over the past year, announced deals for the platform with BSkyB and Irdeto) in North and South America, the UK, South Africa, the Middle East and Asia, including cable, satellite and IPTV operators, set-top box manufacturers, and DTV component and infrastructure vendors.
According to S3, a major product release of StormTest was issued at the end of the second quarter that included, among other things, a "highly flexible" script execution scheduling engine, a Web interface for remote test script management and facility management which enables multiple StormTest systems to be managed as a single group. The company says that the next upgrade to the platform is planned for the fourth quarter. "The use of S3 Group's StormTest offers an efficient way to automate testing," Taylan Ozsipahi, who heads up set-top box testing for Digiturk, said in a prepared statement. "It is the best solution for interactive testing scenarios to help reproduce specific set-top box bugs." Added S3's product manager for StormTest, Sheila O'Shea: "While DTV subscriptions rise and DTV receivers grow in complexity, the costs of delivering and maintaining a high-quality experience for the end-user are growing exponentially. We believe these problems can be addressed through the intelligent application of testing solutions at various points throughout the entire DTV receiver lifecycle. S3 Group has built this intelligence into our StormTest platform and we are proud to add Digiturk to our growing customer base."
S3 Group says that it is planning a demo of StormTest at the CableLabs Summer Conference in August, that will showcase the automation of EBIF application testing.
