--Show Will Allow Viewers to Determine Brown's Everyday Decisions for a Year
Revision3--a company which bills itself as "an actual TV network for the Web," and which produces its own original, broadcast-quality programming--said Monday that it has signed up YouTube celebrity, Dan Brown, to host a new, interactive reality TV show, entitled "Dan 3.0" that will premiere August 2nd. The show will see Brown--who gained online fame from an instructional video he created on how to solve the Rubik's Cube--allowing viewers to vote to determine his everyday decisions.
For the next year, Revision3 says, Brown will solicit opinions from online viewers about his daily activities--asking them to make decisions for him on a range of topics, including, for example, the clothes he should wear and what his living arrangements should be. Audiences will cast votes and submit tasks for him to complete using a new community decision engine on Revision3.com, the company says. According to the company, the decision engine will allow viewers to develop ideas and interact directly with one another in order to determine the content of the show. Brown will then execute the most popular ideas on the show, new episodes of which will be made available on a daily basis on a dedicated area of Revision3's Web site (note: viewers will also be able to download the episodes).
More information on "Dan 3.0" is available here. "I can't wait to see what's in store for me this year," Brown said in a prepared statement. "I've always taken my audience's opinions and ideas seriously, but this level of interaction should really take things to the next level." Added Revision3's VP of programming and production, Ryan Vance: "Dan has proven that he can successfully connect with online viewers with over 55 million views on his YouTube videos. It's a revolutionary concept for his viewers, that they are not only able to watch his movements, but dictate them as well."
