--Platform Will Feature Mosaic Navigation, VOD, nPVR and More
GoBackTV, a Silicon Valley-based provider of digital video headend and edge solutions, said Monday that it is working with systems integrator, I-Systems, to enhance Chilean operator, Gtd Manquehue's existing DVB-C TV platform with new hybrid DVB-C/IP "personal TV" services (note: the project also sees the participation of content protection specialist, Verimatrix--see the article published on itvt.com, July 6th).
According to the company, components of its flagship RetroVue product suite will deliver DVB-C scrambling and multiplexing, QAM-RF transport, VOD, middleware, mosaic navigation and TV timeshifting for the operator, which launched Chile's first all-digital TV system back in 2006. "Today we are introducing in Latin America the first services that focus on customer needs around the convergence of Internet and TV," Fernando Gana, general manager of Gtd Manquehue's television subsidiary, Gtd. Imagen, said in a prepared statement. "Many new developments have been introduced, but the most important enhancement is the customization of services to the unique needs of each customer or user. GoBackTV's RetroVue System not only enables us to deliver our immediate television service improvements, but also lets us add other enhancements in the future, exploring a direct relationship with our customer in any network, either fixed or mobile." Added I-Systems business manager, Jorge Oportot: "GoBackTV's RetroVue System is very versatile. The same set of equipment can support customers on fiber, DSL, traditional DVB-C cable, and also cable IPTV, and is integrated with a variety of ecosystem partners. It also integrates well with legacy DVB-C headend equipment, which helps operators preserve their existing investments."
According to GoBackTV, Gtd is in the midst of extending the reach of its FTTH network, and plans to enhance its DVB-C digital cable offering with such services as HDTV, IPTV, VOD, TV timeshifting and network PVR.
