Quick.tv in Interactive Video Partnership with Ooyala

--Quick.tv's Tools Let Ooyala Customers Add Clickable Hotspots and Other Interactive Features

London-based interactive video company, Quick.tv, announced last week that it will begin providing customers of Ooyala's broadband video platform with its interactive video technology. "[Quick.tv's technology] offers a wide range of monetization, engagement and editorial overlays for immediate use, whilst offering an editing facility with limitless creative potential for those who want to deliver a more specific user experience," the company's co-founder, Nick Bell, said in a prepared statement. "The analytics generated by viewer interactions take video accountability and market intelligence to a new level. Ooyala publishers now can use Quick.tv overlays to add dynamic interactive features to their videos: clickable hotspots, live pricing, 'buy now' features, even data feeds and user voting. The Quick.tv video application will work seamlessly with Ooyala's market-leading analytics and content management capabilities. The user's workflow won't change, but our interactive overlays will engage viewers with a dynamic experience while boosting response rates and user insights for publishers."

According to Quick.tv, Ooyala customers will see a "seamless integration" of Quick.tv overlays into the Ooyala video player. The company says that a library of off-the-shelf widgets can be used to deploy interactive features quickly, while an advanced editor allows users to create their own custom widgets. "The widget approach is efficient and flexible," Bell continued. "It offers a wide range of monetization, engagement and editorial overlays for immediate use, whilst offering an editing facility with limitless creative potential for those who want to deliver a more specific user experience. The analytics generated by viewer interactions take video accountability and market intelligence to a new level."

Quick.tv and Ooyala recently partnered to deliver live, interactive Webcasts on the Daily Telegraph's Web site of the UK's Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq war. The Webcasts invited visitors to the site to vote on what they saw (note: voting is one of the interactive "engagement widgets" that Quick.tv is now offering to Ooyala customers): according to the companies, nearly 400,000 votes were cast and displayed live within the Webcast, representing an average of over three clicks per viewer. A demo video of Quick.tv's technology can be seen here.
