Comcast Unveils Summer Line-Up of Children's Programming Available On-Demand and Online

Comcast on Tuesday unveiled the line-up of children's programming that it will be offering this summer on its VOD platform and online. According to the company--which claims that its customers watch over 25 million hours of children's VOD programming each month (note: the company says that around 1,500 children's programs are available on Comcast On Demand)--the line-up includes TV series, new-release and classic movies, and programming devoted to family games, fitness, crafts, cooking, magic, dance, drawing lessons and more. "We always have something for everyone in the family, and a lot of it," Diana Kerekes, Comcast's VP of entertainment services, said in a prepared statement. "We partner with top content providers to offer the best value and programming including movie collections, popular TV shows and online content you can watch on the go."

Highlights of Comcast's on-demand and online summer line-up of children's programming, according to the MSO, include:

  • More than 80 children's TV series on-demand, including such shows as "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Dora the Explorer," "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Sesame Street," "The Jetsons" and "Looney Tunes."
  • 11 different children's movie collections on-demand, including "Kids Rule, with Agent Cody Banks," "Harriet the Spy," and "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius."
  • Step-by-step instructional videos and "hundreds" of activities, games and lessons, available on-demand via Activity TV. Children will be able to "learn the hottest dance moves, sing along to their favorite songs, practice yoga, create crafts, play a game, cook or trick their friends with a new magic trick," Comcast states in its press materials.
  • The ability to watch such shows as "iCarly," "Rugrats," "ALF," and "The Flintstones" and other classic cartoons online at Fancast Xfinity TV.
