Comcast's New Social TV Service, Tunerfish, Rolls Out a Redesign

Just a month or so after its launch (see the article published on itvt.com, May 24th), Tunerfish, a new social TV service developed by employees of Plaxo, the address book/social networking service that Comcast acquired back in 2008, has rolled out a redesign. According to a posting on the Tunerfish blog, the redesign enables:

• Easier discovery of people and conversations: "Many of you asked, 'Hey, where are all the people? And how do I join the conversation?,'" general manager, John McCrea, writes on Tunerfish's official blog. "Apparently the first version of our conversation system was a bit too hard to navigate! So, we redesigned our 'Show Pages,' letting you see who's there and what they're saying (beyond those you follow). That way, you can find and engage with the other folks who share your TV passion...We've also improved the presentation of conversations with: threading, 'accordion' style compression for discussions with over five replies, and ability to delete your own comments."
• The ability for users to switch their profile photo: "Many of you also asked for a way to change your Tunerfish avatar, away from whatever profile photo you have on the social network you joined via," McCrea writes. "We've made a step forward in that direction, allowing you to switch between your Twitter and Facebook profile photos--or the Tunerfish default avatar. To change yours, go to the settings page. Of course, we will add the ability soon to upload a new photo."
• An easier-to-use "Trending" view that is billed as offering "higher impact" thumbnails and a "tighter layout that makes it easier to see what's rising in popularity."
