Brightcove and Mobile Roadie Integrate Technologies to Facilitate Development of Mobile Video Apps

--Miniweb Joins Brightcove's Partner Program

Broadband video platform provider, Brightcove, contacted [itvt] Wednesday to let us know that Mobile Roadie--a company which offers an app platform that it bills as enabling anyone to easily create and manage iPhone and Android apps, and which is a member of its Brightcove Alliance partner program--has built an integration with Brightcove in order to enable customers to build and manage mobile apps that are fully integrated with the Brightcove platform. This, the company says, enables companies and organizations to easily roll out high-quality, customizable mobile video experiences and apps that provide a "rich, engaging user experience" for iPhone and Android device users.

According to Brightcove, its partnership with Mobile Roadie allows the companies to provide a comprehensive solution for creating and managing video-centric iPhone and Android apps. The company says that the integration enables Mobile Roadie users to automatically pull in video from their Brightcove account, which can then be reorganized and customized to fit the design and layout of the mobile app. Brightcove-powered video is also easily integrated into other app content, including Twitter feeds, news and mailing lists, through Mobile Roadie's content management system, Brightcove adds.

Brightcove and Mobile Roadie recently partnered with Big Machine Records to launch iPhone and Android apps for singer, Taylor Swift. According to the companies, the apps were downloaded more than 350,000 times in the first two weeks they were available, and 10% of users of the apps purchased Swift's music during that timeframe. In addition, the companies say, over 7.5 million songs and ringtones were listened to and nearly 665,000 Brightcove-powered videos were watched through the apps. The companies also claim that the apps have generated a high level of user engagement, with users posting fan messages every few minutes.

Brightcove claims that a number of other customers, including several major music labels, are currently working with it and Mobile Roadie to launch mobile video apps in the near future.

In other Brightcove news: The company tweeted Wednesday that it is looking to fill 20 open positions in engineering, marketing, pro services, design and sales. It also revealed via a separate tweet that Miniweb, a London-based company that offers a platform designed to enable converged broadcast and broadband entertainment on the TV, has joined its partner program.
