Verizon FiOS TV and Interactivation, a New York City-based company that was formed in 2008 when Rainbow Media Holdings sold its Mag Rack properties to media and technology entrepreneurs, Joe Covey and Matthew Davidge, said Wednesday that FiOS TV customers will be the first to access a new "interactive on-demand television experience" called "Spin The Bottle" that will be presented by Interactivation's Concert TV arm and will be available through May 10th on FiOS TV's VOD platform. It will also be available to FiOS TV subscribers through Interactivation's Concert TV Web site, the companies said.
The show, entitled "Spin The Bottle" and created and hosted by Tad Low (whose company, founded back in 1995 and also called Spin The Bottle, is responsible for such shows as "Pop-Up Video," "Video IQ," "Subway Q&A" and "Pants-Off Dance-Off"), allows viewers to use their remote controls to navigate through a line-up of on-demand musical performances and thereby "wander through various rooms of an exclusive music party as a virtual guest," Verizon and Interactivation say.
According to the companies, "Spin The Bottle" was scripted and created using proprietary technology from Interactivation. "This technology gives the home viewer an overall entertainment experience that recreates what it was actually like to attend the exclusive party filmed," Low said in a prepared statement. "Viewers control which rooms to enter, which bands to watch and where to hang out, providing the ability to enjoy the party in its full glory from the comfort of their home." Added Interactivation president, Davidge: "We like to push the envelope of video interactivity, and we're thrilled to be working with Verizon to deliver interactive television to FiOS viewers. Look out for more interactive shows later in the year."
