--New iTV Doctor Column on Ceton's Technology for Transforming the PC into an Advanced STB --New Blogs from ActiveVideo's Edgar Villalpando, EaselTV's Bill Scott
[itvt] has just published an audio interview with Chad, Matt & Rob, a trio of Los Angeles-based filmmakers who have risen to prominence as a result of a series of interactive comedic shorts they have created, using YouTube's Annotations feature. Their videos--which are influenced by Bantam Books' classic series of "Choose Your Own Adventure" children's gamebooks--include "The Time Machine: An Interactive Adventure," which garnered over 1,000,000 views on YouTube during its first week, and won the award for Best Multimedia Fiction at the 2009 Cinema Tout Ecran International Film Festival in Geneva. The trio are consistently ranked among YouTube's Top 100 Most Subscribed Comedians and their work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, in Entertainment Weekly, on G4's "Attack of the Show," and on YouTube's own blog.
We have also just published the latest edition of Rick Howe's regular column, "The iTV Doctor Is In!" This week, Ed Graczyk, chief marketing officer at Ceton, discusses that company's new InfiniTV 4 product, which transforms a PC into an advanced set-top box.
In addition, [itvt] blogger, Edgar Villalpando, SVP of marketing at ActiveVideo Networks, calls for "a personalized, Web-driven local news channel [that] could be delivered to every subscriber's set-top box or broadband-connected CE device," and argues that "if we're going to get maximum return from our VOD investment, it will be important that customers have the easiest possible access to the content that they want to see." And [itvt] blogger, Bill Scott, CEO of EaselTV, argues that "the most successful network operators will be those that facilitate and encourage over-the-top video" and that "those that seek to retain complete ownership of the commercial relationship with the consumer will ultimately be disintermediated, as they will never be able to keep pace with consumer demand."
