OpenTV Partners with Coverity to Enhance its Middleware Testing Environment

Kudelski-owned interactive TV and advanced advertising technology provider, OpenTV, on Wednesday announced a partnership with Coverity, a provider of "software integrity" solutions, that it says will complement its middleware testing environment.

Starting this month, OpenTV says, it will begin offering Coverity Static Analysis software models to its integration and development customers and partners. According to the company, these Coverity models will help those customers and partners enhance the quality and performance of the integration work they are able to perform with OpenTV middleware in their own development labs, thus saving a significant amount of time in the integration phase of an OpenTV customer launch. "OpenTV is committed to quality, performance and improving time-to-market for its customers," Joel Zdepski, OpenTV's SVP and general manager of middleware, said in a prepared statement. "OpenTV's vast global footprint and partnership with multiple set-top box manufacturers requires a strong testing environment. Partnering with Coverity is yet another example of how we are ensuring that our customers are receiving the most reliable middleware technology available today so that they can in turn provide the best viewing experience to their subscribers." Added Coverity chief marketing officer, Dave Peterson: "Coverity is very excited to work with OpenTV and provide our expertise in proactively analyzing the integrity of software component integrations. Coverity Static Analysis models will enable OpenTV integration partners to save significant time by catching issues early in the integration process and help avoid software problems caused by changes in manufacturing and regional requirements, and upgrades and configurations."

According to OpenTV, Coverity Static Analysis models enable OpenTV integration and development partners to analyze the integrity of OpenTV middleware integrations without shipping source code. This benefits OpenTV partners and customers, the company says, by saving time and reducing costs of integration work and custom development, and accelerates time-to-market for OpenTV solutions and services.
