Avail-TVN--the company formed in July from the merger of VOD distribution services provider, TVN Entertainment, and Avail Media, a provider of managed content-aggregation services for smaller IPTV operators (see the article published on itvt.com, July 15th)--announced this week that it has signed an agreement with NFL Network (NFLN) that will extend the scope of their relationship. According to the company, the agreement will see it continuing to be NFLN's primary provider of VOD services, including services that allow the channel to transform its games coverage into VOD assets within 24 hours. The deal also expands NFLN's use of Avail-TVN's services "to the entire industry," the company says, and will see it delivering the channel's programming to an additional 17 million VOD-enabled homes and providing it with advanced asset and metadata management services, including services powered by its ADONISS Asset Management platform and its Programmer Remote Interface (allows content providers to remotely manage their content). "VOD has become a vital tool for distributing sports entertainment and changing the aspect of game viewing itself," Avail-TVN chief revenue officer, Jim Riley, said in a prepared statement. "NFLN is a leader in the industry when it comes to advanced asset management, and our partnership ensures that Avail-TVN will continue to be the main provider for managing their VOD offering."
According to NFLN, its VOD content line-up includes:
- Library programs, such as NFL Films archived packages, classic NFL games, NFLN shows, season-in-review shows and sub-packages by the 32 team markets.
- "NFL Replay": short highlights of all NFL regular-season and post-season games played.
- "NFL Blitz": a weekly "best of" highlights show of NFL preseason, regular-season and playoff games.
- "Themed Assets": seasonal shows that focus on Combine and NFL Draft vignettes, fantasy football and season previews, playoff games, Super Bowl- and Pro Bowl-themed programming, and 32 "Season in Review" programs.
In other Avail-TVN news: The company said Wednesday that it has signed up Integra Telecom as its 100th linear IPTV customer.
