Minneapolis-based IPTV content aggregator, Telechannel, said Tuesday that it plans to offer a Yellow Pages on TV interactive TV application to its telco customer base. "Yellow Pages on TV makes it possible for telco operators to leverage their existing Yellow Pages advertising business," Telechannel CEO, Jeff Maxwell, said in a prepared statement. "With a push of a remote control button, telco TV subscribers can see on their televisions up-to-the minute listings of local merchants."
According to Telechannel--which is demo'ing the application at the TelcoTV show in Orlando, Florida this week (Booth 909)--Yellow Pages on TV allows telcos to build upon their existing local community presence and generate new revenue from Yellow Book advertisers. The company claims that the application enables telcos to sell a wide variety of advertising, including elevated search ranking, banner ads, and video ads that allow viewers to send emails or place phone calls from their televisions.
Last month, Comcast Media Center announced that it would offer customers of its HITS AxIS service a Yellow Pages on TV application that has been developed by FourthWall Media (see the article published on itvt.com, October 28th).
