New York-area MSO, Cablevision, last week announced the launch of a mobile version of its remote DVR scheduling service that is available through the mobile version of Optimum.net, its Web portal for customers of its Optimum Online high-speed Internet service. The MSO launched its Optimum.net remote DVR service in September (see the article published on itvt.com, September 27th).
According to the company, the new mobile app allows customers who subscribe to both DVR for iO TV (note: iO TV is Cablevision's digital cable service, which enjoys a 94% penetration rate among its subscriber base) and to Optimum Online to find and record shows and manage stored content from any mobile device with Internet browsing support over any network. "This enhancement is a valuable extension of the remote DVR scheduling and management feature available through Optimum.net, extending this added convenience to iPhones, Blackberry smartphones and other Web-enabled mobile devices," John Trierweiler, Cablevision's SVP of product management, said in a prepared statement. "Now it is possible to easily schedule recordings and manage previously stored DVR content from anywhere, on any Web-enabled device, so being away from home doesn't mean missing that favorite show or event."
