Broadband video platform provider, Ooyala (note: the company claims to have over 140 global media and enterprise customers, including Warner Bros., Electronic Arts and Sybase), on Tuesday announced the launch of real-time analytics for its platform. It says that the enhancement makes its Analytics Engine one of the fastest in the industry and that the speed improvement will allow its customers to make more informed decisions faster than ever before. "The need for advanced video analytics has become increasingly important to media companies, marketers and publishers seeking to understand and optimize their video ROI," Ooyala co-founder and president of product strategy, Bismarck Lepe, said in a prepared statement. "With real-time data visibility within the Ooyala Analytics dashboard, Ooyala customers have an incredibly powerful, responsive tool to help them intelligently launch and fine tune their video strategies in minutes, not days."
According to Ooyala, the new version of its Analytics Engine is designed to process large amounts of video data--such as the number of plays, displays and rewinds, as well as the amount of video watched, video abandonment points, and more--much more efficiently. Other improvements claimed by the company include increased reliability and scalability. The optimized system is now available to all Analytics users, the company says.
Ooyala says that customers using its Analytics API, which is designed to enable developers to create custom visualizations by directly accessing analytical data, will see the most significant speed improvements. The company bills its Analytics tools, which launched in 2007, as providing video publishers with video-related business intelligence from "dozens" of easy-to-read, detailed reports.
