Paris-based interactive TV games company, Visiware (note: the company claims that its games are available on 30 cable, satellite and IPTV platforms, including DISH Network, Bell TV, Wind, Videotron, Canalsat, TPS, Numericable, Sky Italia, UPC, Nova, Multichoice, Dish TV India, StarHub, True Visions, Austar, Foxtel and Sky New Zealand), announced last week that it has added a new game, "Scrabble Words," to its Playin'TV catalog. The game is the result of a collaboration between Visiware and Mattel, (note: the latter owns the rights to the classic board game, Scrabble, outside the US) that began in 2006 with the launch of an interactive TV version of the classic "Scrabble" game.
According to Visiware, the new game, which the company says is suitable for the whole family, features rich graphics and a comprehensive word database. The 10-round, anagrams-based game requires players to form a requested number of words within a given time limit, the company says, and awards bonus points on different levels, depending on the words the player forms. The game becomes more difficult as the player progresses, and offers various different modes including "Challenge" (one player), "Duel" (two players) and "Tutorial" (allows players to familiarize themselves with the game's basics).
Scrabble Words is slated to launch on French satellite and cable platforms, Canalsat and Numericable, next month, and subsequently to be distributed on Sky Italia, Sky TV (New Zealand), Dish TV (India), StarHub (Singapore) and Austar (Australia).
