Rooftop Media, a company which produces and distributes original comedy programming to mobile, Web, broadcast, and print outlets (including, it claims, Current TV, Apple iTunes, Yahoo!, Nokia, Hulu, FastCompany Magazine, YouTube, and TiVo), and which last month launched a participatory/interactive TV show, called "That Sucks," on digital cable channel, MavTV (see the article published on itvt.com, August 10th), contacted [itvt] Wednesday to let us know that it is partnering with Microsoft on a user-generated video contest, called "Share Your Stuff."
The contest, which is intended to promote Microsoft Office Live Workspace, invites college filmmakers to submit humorous videos showing "how easy it is to manage and share documents" using the service. Rooftop claims that the beauty of the campaign is that it will see the service being promoted by members of the market segment the service is targeting.
The "Share Your Stuff" contest, which coincides with Rootop's Rooftop Comedy National Comedy Competition's Funny Film Contest, is open to any college student in the US. Submitted videos must be no longer than two minutes, and will be judged on originality, wit and production values, the company says. The winner will receive $1,000 in cash and will have his or her film screened at the June, 2010 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival.
