The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has revealed the winners of the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media. The Interactive Media Emmys recognize excellence in two areas of competition: 1) Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media: Fiction (note: according to the Television Academy, this award category recognizes "outstanding fiction-based interactive programs or series presenting opportunities for audience engagement" and offering "content beyond passive, linear television viewing"); and 2) Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media: Non-Fiction (note: according to the Television Academy, this award category recognizes "overall creative excellence in the interactive media components of nonfiction-based programs or series").
The winner of the 2009 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media: Fiction is: The Dharma Initiative-Dharma Wants You (ABC Entertainment Marketing, Hoodlum). The other nominees in the category (note: this year marks the first time that Interactive Media Emmy finalists have received full-fledged nominee status) were The 30 Rock Digital Experience (NBC.com) and The Office Digital Experience (NBC.com).
The winner of the 2009 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media: Non-Fiction is: The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Digital Experience (NBC.com). The other nominees in the category were Top Chef (Bravo Digital Media) and The Saturday Night Live Digital Experience (NBC.com).
