--Billed as Enabling ISP's to Offer TV, Pay-TV Operators to Counter Cord-Cutting with New Services
GooMe Interactive, a provider of over-the-top-TV solutions for operators, on Wednesday launched its M Cube OTT media solution. According to the company, M Cube provides operators--including ISP's entering the TV/content management market or existing pay-TV operators interested in enriching their offerings--with a turnkey solution for managing any content--including TV, broadband video, music, Web sites, widgets and social networking services--on TV, PC and mobile.
According to GooMe, the M Cube solution "enables OTT operators to bundle TV with their offerings, taking advantage of the new market opportunities, while providing their customers TV, Web and home media content over TV, PC and mobile through any set-top box." It also provides pay-TV operators with a means to "fight the challenges of cable-cutting alternatives with an over-the-top media solution providing a range of revenue-generating TV and Web offerings that are easy to implement and easier for users to access," the company says. M Cube services available on TV, PC and mobile, according to GooMe, include live digital terrestrial television broadcast channels; VOD; Web-based video content from YouTube and CNN.com; widgets and social networking Web sites including Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, weather and stocks; interactive games; and streaming of home media files. The solution also includes a "targeted ad infrastructure" and "advanced profiling, recommendation and personalization capabilities," GooMe says. The company claims that the solution allows users to "experience...content across TV, PC and mobile and...shift between devices and pick up where they left off." For operators already offering TV, GooMe says, M Cube enables the distribution of TV, Web and home media to TV, PC and mobile, "making 'TV and home media Everywhere' a cost-effective offering."
GooMe claims that M Cube can be integrated with any set-top box, and says that it also offers the solution pre-integrated with a set-top from its partner, AirTies. "After nearly a decade of developing customized TV and cable video applications and services for leading operators including Vodafone, Orange and Tata Sky, which are compatible with every set-top box, we're excited to utilize our knowledge and market experience to launch our holistic M Cube OTT Media solution for operators," GooMe CEO, Danny Peled, said in a prepared statement. "With the tremendous opportunities for operators in the OTT market, GooMe enables operators to fight back against cable cutting alternatives with a user-friendly service offering that enables increasing revenue and end-user value by bundling TV and distributing TV, Web and home media content to TV, PC and mobile screens." GooMe is demo'ing M Cube in its booth (5.AO1 zone 5) at the IBC show in Amsterdam later this week.
