Avail-TVN--the company formed in July from the merger of VOD distribution services provider, TVN Entertainment, and Avail Media, a provider of managed content-aggregation services for smaller IPTV operators (see article published on itvt.com, July 15th)--announced Wednesday that it has signed a comprehensive, long-term VOD services deal to support World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) various VOD programming initiatives. The deal includes distribution of WWE's WWE Classics On Demand product, which features current and classic matches, "historic" pay-per-views, vintage episodes of primetime series such as "Monday Night Raw" and "WCW Nitro," and original series such as the roundtable talk show, "Legends of Wrestling."
According to the companies, the deal will see Avail-TVN supporting all of WWE's VOD needs, including multiple codecs (MPEG-2 and MPEG-4), SD and HD, advanced asset management tools and services, programming stunts and fast-turnaround services to accommodate VOD ad sales timelines and high-profile programming. "We've been using Avail-TVN's services for nearly five years and are continually impressed with their business acumen, customer service, responsiveness and strategic insight," Jim Brown, director of operations for WWE Classics On Demand, said in a prepared statement. "We are excited to extend our partnership into the future." Added Matt Cohen, TVN-Avail's SVP of content services: "We continue to enhance customized solutions for our content partners, including the ability to efficiently modify VOD assets during their lifecycle, which allows partners like WWE to quickly respond to VOD usage trends, ultimately resulting in an optimized offering for their affiliates and fans. As the WWE's VOD strategy grows, we will continue to innovate and simplify the process to showcase one of the hottest brands on TV."
According to Avail-TVN, WWE Classics On Demand utilizes the company's Adoniss 2 Asset Management platform, which it claims houses all of the content and the PRI interface that allows each provider to remotely manage its content.
