--Claims to Have "Broadest Offering" of any Current Connected TV Platform in the US
AnySource Media, a company that has developed an over-the-top-TV solution, called the Connected HDTV Platform, which it says will be embedded in certain new HDTV sets later this year (note: the company has not yet announced any partnerships with TV manufacturers) and will allow viewers to access hundreds of "virtual" on-demand channels "out of the box," announced several new content partners Wednesday, including GolfTV, Voyage.tv, New York Financial Press, Small Business Television, Show Me the Curry, Still Crazy After All These Beers, and Quietwater Films (producer of Paddlesports TV). The company claims that it now has "the broadest offering of any current connected TV platform in the US market."
AnySource Media bills its Connected HDTV platform as driving incremental users of Web site video, allowing publishers to preserve their online business models, whether paid or ad-supported. The company says that it creates virtual VOD channels, requiring no special editing or transcoding of video, by integrating existing Web video and ads into its Internet Video Navigator platform, and that it uses existing metadata to create a user-friendly menu that can be easily navigated via a standard TV remote control. It says its service will allow viewers to use their remotes to quickly find and watch video from their favorite Web sites across such categories as news, entertainment, comedy, lifestyle, kids & family, sports, international and business. The service will also provide VOD movies, photo browsing and music, the company says. "AnySource Media's connected TV platform is built to support the evolving video marketplace and content partners' varying business models," Claire Cowart, the company's SVP of content business development, said in a prepared statement. "The great diversity of our content partners, together offering consumers thousands of viewing choices, illustrates not only the breadth of long-tail content in our connected TV line-up, but also the flexibility of the AnySource platform, incorporating ad-supported content as well as pay-per-view and subscription content partners."
Other content partners announced by AnySource to date include The Associated Press, TheStreet.com, WheelsTV, Break Media's Break.com, Revision3, Everwell, On Networks, ComedyTime, ComedyTime Latino, Chick Comedy, Graspr, GetBack.com, Viddler, Next New Networks, subscription VOD channel Salacious Streets TV, religious channels TCT and LifeSat, and Pathfinder World Video SVOD channels BBN, JuiceTV, EbruTV, DreamTV System, New Tang Dynasty TV, Jaam-e-jam, RTP Internacional, Rang-a-rang, Salaam TV, Samanyolu and Ariana Afghanistan.
