CNN's User-Generated Video News Service, iReports.com, Sees Significant Gains in July

CNN said Tuesday that July was an "exceptional month" for its user-generated video news service, iReport.com. According to the company (citing iReport server log data), the site's registered contributors increased 20% compared to the same month last year, and submissions increased by 44%.

The company also said (citing data from Omniture) that on July 7th, the day of Michael Jackson's memorial service, CNN.com served 10.5 million live video streams globally and 9 million on-demand streams, making it the second-largest day for live and on-demand video usage in the site's history. In addition, the company said that its Web site is the number-one broadband video news property for the year to date, averaging over 109 million streams per month.
