Turner Sports Says Its Interactive Broadband Video Coverage of the PGA Championship Broke Records

Turner Sports on Monday released usage figures for the interactive broadband video coverage of the 2009 PGA Championship that it provided on PGA.com last week as part of a long-running deal with the PGA of America (note: for an extensive overview of the coverage, including its various social and interactive elements, see the article published on itvt.com, August 17th). According to the company (citing figures provided by Omniture):

  • PGA.com received 1.4 million average daily uniques during the championship, representing a 94% increase from last year and a record for the site.
  • The site also received a total of 206 million page views during the four days of the championship, representing a 68% increase from last year and another record.
  • The site set single-day records on Friday, August 14th, when it received 1.7 million uniques, 66 million page views, and 1.3 million live and on-demand video stream requests.
  • Turner Sports' broadband video coverage of the event, including PGA.com, Yahoo! and picture-in-picture streams, delivered a total of 3.4 million video streams, including a record 2.4 million live player streams--a 204% increase from 2008.
