--New Hires Come from Neulion, Akamai, The FeedRoom
Ooyala, a Silicon Valley-based company that offers solutions for broadband video management, delivery, syndication, and monetization (note: those solutions include an interactive video platform that the company claims automates video object recognition and tracking, and allows the creation of clickable objects within a video, enabling viewers, for example, to access more information on products featured in a commercial or show), announced Monday that it has expanded its US sales and business development operations with three new hires:
- Kevin Conlan, who will hold the title, senior sales director, strategic accounts. Conlan joins the company from Neulion, which he joined earlier this year and where he was director of sales. Prior to that, he was VP of sales for the East Coast at Move Networks. According to Ooyala, he has over a decade of experience in the online video industry. The company says he will be responsible for East Coast strategic sales activities, with a focus on the sports and media verticals.
- Peter Dawidzik, who will hold the title, sales director, Western Region. Conlan previously spent around six years with Nine Systems and then around three years with Akamai (which purchased Nine Systems in 2006).
- Frank Bestiero, who will hold the title, sales director, East Coast. Bestiero, who will based in Ooyala's New York sales office, was previously director of worldwide sales at The FeedRoom.
All three new hires will report to Ooyala's VP of sales, Eric Morris. "We are pleased and excited to welcome Kevin, Peter and Frank to our team," Ooyala CEO, Bismarck Lepe, said in a prepared statement. "Their experience, coupled with their knowledge of the rapidly growing online video space, will help accelerate our sales initiatives in the US."
