--Manchester City vs. Orlando Pirates Streamed Live Last Saturday --Brightcove Alliance Partner, Goodmail, Enables Brightcove-Powered Video in Emails
Broadband video publishing solutions provider, Brightcove, contacted [itvt] last week to let us know that it is powering online video for UK Premier League soccer club Manchester City's new Web site (mcfc.co.uk). The club's video offerings are produced by Endemol Sport and its new Web site design and the site's video implementation were spearheaded by London-based creative agency, Poke, which is a member of Brightcove's Brightcove Alliance program (note: Brightcove bills the latter as a "global ecosystem" of technology and distribution partners that have integrated with its broadband video platform, as well as solution providers that are using its platform to build customer Web sites and video applications).
This past Saturday (July 18th), Brightcove says its platform enabled Manchester City to stream a live soccer game the club played against the Orlando Pirates. The game was offered free-of-charge and with no geo-restrictions.
In other Brightcove news:
- Scottish commercial broadcaster, STV, is using the company's platform to power a broadband VOD/catch-up service that allows viewers to access a number of its shows, including the popular soap operas "Coronation Street" and "Emmerdale," free-of-charge for up to 30 days after their broadcast. The service, located at
stvplayer.tv, is also slated to offer non-catchup programming, including programs from its archive. It supplements its programming offerings with behind-the-scenes video, image galleries and other information.
- The company says that Brightcove Alliance member, Goodmail Systems, has integrated its service with the Brightcove platform, in order to enable publishers and marketers to provide Brightcove-powered streaming video experiences within the body of email messages.
