Oscilloscope Laboratories, an independent film production and theatrical distribution entity that was launched last year by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, has signed an exclusive digital distribution deal with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, that will see the latter distributing its films on cable and satellite VOD systems, download-to-own services and other digital platforms. According to the companies, the deal will see Warner Bros. distributing Oscilloscope's films day-and-date with their DVD release--and, in some cases, day-and-date with their theatrical release. The first film to be distributed under the deal was "Wendy and Lucy," which was released May 5th on Comcast's and Time Warner's VOD systems, as well as on Amazon VOD and iTunes. Films slated for distribution later this summer include "The Garden," "Scott Walker: 30th Century Man," "Frontrunners," and "Treeless Mountain." "We went out to breakfast with these cats and had a good time hanging out...So I said--what the hell--they seem like they know what they're doing. Let's do this," Yauch said in a prepared statement.
