--Allaire Says Brightcove is Profitable and Cashflow-Positive
In a guest post on broadband video publishing solutions provider Brightcove's blog last week, Bhaskar Roy, co-founder of live mobile video specialist, Qik, announced that his company was partnering with Brightcove, allowing its mobile video capabilities to be easily integrated into the latter's online video publishing and distribution workflow.
According to Roy, the partnership will open up new distribution and monetization opportunities for Qik users who have Brightcove accounts, by allowing them to publish mobile video content through Brightcove players and to integrate ads into that content via Brightcove "just as they would for their other video content." The partnership will also enable them to distribute their Qik-generated content across "the wide distribution opportunities available through Brightcove partners," Roy wrote.
Brightcove customers, meanwhile, will now be able to integrate mobile video uploads from over 130 supported mobile phones into their Brightcove platform accounts, Roy wrote, allowing them to "add a new, cost-effective source of publisher-produced and user-generated video to the mix of their online content."
While not currently available, the ability to stream live mobile video through the Brightcove platform will be "coming soon," Roy promised.
In other Brightcove news: In a conversation with Frost & Sullivan analyst, Dan Rayburn, last week, Brightcove chairman and CEO, Jeremy Allaire, stated that the company--which currently has over 700 premium customers--is now officially profitable and cashflow-positive. He also stated that the company expects to see 50% revenue growth in 2009.
