AnySource Media, a company that offers an over-the-top-TV technology, called the Connected HDTV Platform, which it says will be embedded in certain new HDTV sets later this year (note: the company has not yet announced any partnerships with TV manufacturers) and will allow viewers to access hundreds of "virtual" on-demand channels "out of the box," announced Thursday that it has signed up the Associated Press (AP) as a content provider. "We are delighted to announce AP as a new content provider, offering viewers of our Connected TV platform 24-hour news on-demand from around the globe," Claire Cowart, AnySource's SVP of content business development, said in a prepared statement. "The media industry is at a tipping point and the AnySource Connected TV Platform will help to increase audience exposure and drive traffic for our content partners' advertising campaigns resulting in critical revenue growth."
According to AnySource, its platform is appealing to content providers because, in addition to "driving incremental users of Web site or hosted video," it is a "turnkey connected TV solution...that requires no expenditure of content partner engineering resources for integration" and "preserves content provider business models, whether ad-supported or paid." "AP is creating new content and sponsorship partnership opportunities that build revenue and accelerate brand building on all platforms," Jeffrey Litvack, the AP's general manager of mobile and emerging products, said in a prepared statement. "Partnering with AnySource Media's connected TV platform supports our goal of making AP news available to consumers anytime, anywhere and on any device. This partnership aims to increase exposure of our content as well as in-stream video ads, sponsorships and banners, benefiting both AP and its member news organizations."
AnySource Media also recently announced content partnerships with Pathfinder World Video, TheStreet.com, Break.com, Revision3, and Next New Networks. For more on the company, see the article posted on itvt.com, May 28th.
