 CBS-owned broadband video/community site, TV.com (offers full episodes, clips, entertainment news, show summaries, polls, forums and more) and DVR vendor/service provider, TiVo, announced an agreement Wednesday which they say will let TV.com users find and schedule shows to record on their TiVo DVR directly through TV.com. According to the parties, TV.com users who have a TiVo Series2, Series3, HD, or HD XL DVR can now record single episodes or entire seasons of shows by clicking a "Record to TiVo" button on TV.com show pages, and the request will then be sent directly to their DVR. "TV.com enhances the television experience with content, information and community features that complement our audiences' favorite TV shows," TV.com VP, Jeff Clark, said in a prepared statement. "In fact, more than 20% of our community is on TV.com while watching TV. We are thrilled to be working with TiVo, a pioneer in home entertainment, to bring this new functionality to our community, making it even easier for consumers to watch their favorite shows and discover new ones." Added Tara Maitra, TiVo's general manager and VP of content services and advertising sales: "Working with TV.com to offer our subscribers the ability to easily schedule recordings while away from the home illustrates our commitment to delivering the consumer the best way to watch television."
According to Nielsen's VideoCensus report, in April TV.com reached an all-time high in unique views and posted its fourth consecutive month of record highs in streams and minutes spent on the site. The site claims to have posted significant year-over-year growth across all key video metrics, including a 2211% increase in unique viewers, a 9282% increase in streams, and a 24,704% increase in minutes spent on the site.
