UK-based interactive TV company, Two Way Media (note: the company recently announced that Jean de Fougerolles, who had served as its CEO for eight years, was stepping down and would be replaced by its former sales director, James Turner--see article posted on itvt.com, May 19th), announced Monday that it has signed a long-term licensing deal for a collection of its interactive TV games with Indian IPTV operator, Smart Digivision.
Smart Digivision--which recently launched an IPTV service under the MyWay brand in 54 cities--will offer customers of the service such Two Way Media games as "Deal with It" and "Picnic Antics," as well as the company's new "Match Blox" strategy game (note: the Smart Digivision deal represents the first international deployment of the latter game). The games, which will run on SeaChange International's TV Navigator software, will be offered on a subscription basis. "We have been interested in extending our catalog of casual games for TV into the Asian market as IPTV experiences dramatic growth in the region," Two Way Media's new CEO, James Turner, said in a prepared statement. "MyWay's choice of middleware vendor--SeaChange--has made it even easier for us to launch games." Added Smart Digivision COO, Kapil Dev Kumar: "Two Way Media not only brings a great package of tried and tested games, but also the commercial know-how on the best way to package a compelling games offering to our subscribers. Adding games into our already rich content offering was a natural next step for us."
