--Service Now Available in 24 Million US and Canadian Households
New York-area MSO, Cablevision, said Wednesday that it is launching the Eurocinema video-on-demand service on its VOD platform this month. The service offers a range of European and other international films, each of which is presented as part of a hosted, two-hour block of programming that also includes director interviews, documentaries, commentaries and other content. It will be located under the "International and European" section of the "Movies on Demand" area of Cablevision's VOD service, and its titles will be priced at $4.95 each. "We're delighted to add Cablevision to our list of top cable and satellite partners across the US and Canada," Eurocinema chairman and CEO, Sebastien Perioche, said in a prepared statement. "We're proud to make available to US television audiences films that have had major success in Europe and around the world. On-demand provides the perfect platform for Eurocinema's multicultural offering. Consumers may select films, at any time from the country and language of their choice, all from the comfort of their own living rooms."
Eurocinema, whose service is also carried by Time Warner Cable, Charter, DISH Network and DirecTV, says that it is now available in over 24 million homes in the US and Canada.
