Alticast Launches AwakenTV GUI for MHP and tru2way

At the ANGA Cable show in Cologne, Monday, MHP and OCAP/tru2way specialist, Alticast, launched a GEM (stands for "Globally Executable MHP," a subset of the MHP interactive TV standard that defines a platform-independent common core engine on which interactive applications can run across a range of delivery systems, and that is supported by the DVB, CableLabs, the ARIB, the ATSC and the Blu-ray Disc Association) product called the AwakenTV FastMHP/tru2way Graphical User Interface (GUI). According to the company, the new GUI supports advanced interactive applications, rich graphics, audio and video, and "delivers instantaneous response from the remote control, such as rapid channel-tuning capability of around 0.03 seconds," thus "eliminat[ing] slow digital channel-change response times, while offering the highest-quality GUI manipulation in the industry." When AwakenTV is deployed in conjunction with Alticast's AltiExcite EPG (features a multiscreen mosaic), the company says, it allows the use of virtual channels to enable easy navigation to such services as VOD, DVR, and interactive TV applications including games, widgets, and Internet-sourced social-networking apps (e.g., apps for Twitter or Facebook).
