The TVWorks Developer Network (note: TVWorks, which was formerly a joint venture between Comcast and Cox, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Comcast) is now offering a free membership option to interactive TV developers building ETV/EBIF applications. According to the company, developers who set up a free account on the network will have access to a broad range of resources to assist them through the ETV development process. Membership is billed as providing developers with access to TVWorks XDK, an integrated development environment for authoring and simulating applications on the TVWorks ETV User Agent; access to the TVWorks Developer Network support site, which includes a knowledge base of best practices for developing ETV applications, sample apps, documentation for TVWorks' ETV platform and more; ongoing access to software upgrades and documentation updates; and developer forums. TVWorks stresses that the free membership option does not include one-on-one support from the company (the company encourages developers looking for additional support to contact itaas, which it says has "extensive experience" in development and developer support using TVWorks technology through its istart program). More information on the TVWorks Developer Network and its free membership option is available at: https://developer.tvworks.com/ (h/t OEDN.net).
