VOD distribution services provider, TVN Entertainment, announced Wednesday that it is releasing eight 2009 Academy Award-winning or nominated films on VOD, starting April 21st through the beginning of June. The films are "Frost/Nixon" (day and date with its DVD release, and in both HD and SD) and "The Wrestler," which were released April 21st; "Rachel Getting Married," which will be released April 24th; "Slumdog Millionaire," which will be released April 29th (in both HD and SD); "Bolt," which will be released May 6th (in HD); "Doubt," which will be released May 7th (in both HD and SD); "The Reader," which will be released May 14th (in both HD and SD); and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which will be released June 3rd. TVN says that the titles will be priced at between $4 and $5 for a 24-hour viewing window. Last month, TVN also released "Australia" and "Milk" day-and-date with their DVD releases.
