--Company Recently Launched ITV Games Widget for Yahoo! Widget Engine
Accedo Broadband, an aggregator and distributor of interactive TV applications and content for IPTV and broadband-connected consumer electronics devices (note: the company, which was founded by telecom and media entrepreneurs, Michael Lantz and Fredrik Andersson, offers a range of applications, including game, quiz, puzzle, video-art, karaoke, weather, communications and user-generated content apps; it has deals in place to provide games packages to a line-up of customers that includes BT, Inuk, and PCCW), last month announced a three-year exclusive licensing deal with Canal+ Group-subsidiary, StudioCanal, that will allow it to launch several games based on the movie, "The Terminator." Accedo says that the games will be added to its Funspot portfolio of casual games and will be available to viewers during the current quarter. "Adding branded games with exclusive and globally attractive themes is a key element in our game strategy," Accedo CEO, Lantz, said in a prepared statement. "'The Terminator' is a globally attractive movie brand, which will add considerable value to Accedo's distribution partners and customers. We plan to license additional properties and brands in the near future to further expand the quality and range of our game portfolio."
In other recent Accedo Broadband news: In January, the company announced that it had launched an ITV games widget for Internet-connected televisions that feature the Yahoo! Widget Engine. Dubbed the Funspot TV Widget, the new widget offers a selection of casual games spanning such categories as arcade, puzzle, board, strategy, card and quiz games. "Funspot contains the best of interactive casual games for the TV," Accedo's Lantz, said in a prepared statement. "We are thrilled to bring the Funspot range of games to this new exciting technology. We will continue to expand and develop the service offering for the Yahoo! Widget Engine based on the customer feedback for the initial Funspot service."
