ZillionTV in Content Deal with The Weinstein Company (NEW)

Studio-backed subscription-free broadband/personalized TV service, ZillionTV (note: for an in-depth overview of the company, see [itvt]'s recent interview with its CEO, Mitch Berman, in Issue 8.33), has announced a content agreement with indie studio, The Weinstein Company. As a result of the deal, films from The Weinstein Company's library, such as "Soul Men," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," "The Reader" and "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" will be available on ZillionTV's service later this year, the companies say (note: ZillionTV claims to have already assembled a roster of over 40 content providers, including Disney, 20th Century Fox Television, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution). "We are actively seeking digital distribution models to deliver our films to new audiences," David Spiegelman, president of domestic TV and distribution for The Weinstein Company, said in a prepared statement. "ZillionTV provides us with the perfect method, giving us the opportunity to offer a wide variety of titles, all of which will be prominently featured on the service through its customizable platform."
