Also Achieves DLNA 1.5 Testbed Reference Device Status
Oregan Networks, a UK company that specializes in embedded media browsers, says that its Digital Media Player IP set-top box reference design has achieved Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) Home Networked Interoperability Guidelines v1.5 certification, supporting HD WMV-9 and mobile H.264 video codecs, along with other baseline media format requirements. In addition, the company says, it has achieved the status of DLNA 1.5 Testbed Reference Device, to be utilized by DLNA members and independent certification vendors (ICV's) during future plugfests and as part of the consortium's generic certification process. According to Oregan, the device, which incorporates the company's Oregan Media Browser solution, is certified as a Digital Media Player (DMP) and supports such use cases as discovery and playback of commercial and personal images and audio and video content, and rendering of images, audio and video content pushed or served by mobile servers and control point devices, including mobile phones and networked digital cameras. "Transition to interoperable home networking and anytime entertainment is somewhat akin to the color TV revolution in the 50's and 60's, in the way it enriches the possibilities of consuming media and in the inevitability of ubiquitous connectivity becoming a part of our every day lives," Oregan's VP of marketing, Milya Timergaleyeva, said in a prepared statement. "Oregan pledges to continue its contribution to future versions of DLNA's guidelines for interoperability and design excellence, as it adds features for delivery of Web and broadcast services."
