--Company Offers HD VOD Yule Log
Cable industry-owned VOD content aggregator, iN DEMAND, recently contacted [itvt] to let us know that Howard TV On Demand, the subscription VOD service of shock jock, Howard Stern, is now inviting subscribers to the service to contributed content to an interactive timeline of Stern's career (note: iN DEMAND recently signed an exclusive deal to continue distributing Howard TV On Demand through the end of 2010--see [itvt] Issue 8.06 Part 3B). Located at howardtv.com/timeline, the timeline invites viewers to upload reminiscences, photos, videos, comments and other content, and also to share its content on their Facebook and MySpace pages or on their blogs via an embeddable widget. According to iN DEMAND, the timeline will serve as the "lynchpin" of Howard TV On Demand's marketing initiatives. The timeline was created through a partnership between Howard TV On Demand and Dipity, a company that specializes in organizing updates from sites like YouTube, WordPress, and Twitter, as well as from around 7,500 news sites, into "channels" displayed on interactive timelines.
In other iN DEMAND news: In time for the holidays, the company is once again offering a free on-demand version of the traditional televised yule log, produced in HD. The program is available on the VOD systems of Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House. It is being offered as part of a package that also includes "Winter Green," a video of a snowy, pine forest; and "Snowman," a video of a snowman withstanding a snowy storm. The videos all include holiday music and are presented in 1080i picture and 5.1 sound.
