Dreampark, a Swedish company that provides middleware for cable, terrestrial and IPTV and that targets the European market, unveiled the next generation of its Dreamgallery IPTV middleware at the recent IBC show in Amsterdam. According to the company, the new middleware is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)-based and offers "outstanding performance" for HD graphics; employs open standards, including HTML as well as SVG, in order to facilitate customization and localization; and supports such services as live MMS to the TV, mobile PVR, pre-paid business models and RSS support. The company bills the new middleware as "dramatically" optimizing the response times and speed of IPTV services, enabling high performance for HD graphics, and thus enabling "outstanding GUI opportunities." According to the company, operators that deploy the software can take advantage of WYSIWYG administration tools; can draw on a broad pool of independent Dreampark developers; and can select from a wide range of compatible set-top boxes, video servers and CA/DRM systems.
